“…there's a young italian drummer who plays live on stage like i've never heard before…”
(Captain Wada, head journalist-reviewer of Burrn! the most important rock magazine in Japan)
"...Danil record a tempo designed by you, i will record it in my next album and i'll play it in my concerts..."
(Bob Moses '97)
Danil Morini born August 23, 1985 (Castelfranco Emilia - Modena) starts to play with drums even before the age of 1, beginning the studies at the age of 4, according to a targeted propaedeutic view. Follow a variety of musical situations that would lead him to perform on stage and in theaters from the age of 12. At that period he begins studying privately complementary piano for two years.
He comes from a family of musicians. His father is a drum teacher and he's passed on the knowledge of years of studies with Ubaldo Rivi (Bologna), Enrico Lucchini (Parma Jazz) and all those schools, many shared with him, along with the most important drummers that have marked the great changes of worldwide culture of drums (from ethnical music, to jazz and rock etc...)
From 1999 he is admitted with the maximum scores to Parma Conservatory, there he studied percussions, complementary piano and singing.
He regularly goes to Greece (Crete) since he was little, receiving great inspiration and musical influences that will lead him to transpose on the instrument the millenarian culture of Greek music, of great depth in terms of rythm.
The great innovation of RhythmoSophy (link), will allow him to catch in rythm the "secret messages" of melody; it will be the discipline required for interest of guitar player Garrison Fewell (Lanciano Jazz 2000), at the Berklee College of Music of Boston. The choice was to postpone the meeting in order to experiment and make a gift primarily on national territory.
In Jazz ambit he carefully studies and always follows drummers like Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Kenny Clarke, Jimmy Cobb, Jack DeJonette, Al Foster, Art Blakey, Roy Haynes, Max Roach, Steve Gadd, Bob Moses and many others... From 1997 he particularly develops and deepens also rock and progressive music getting closer to drummers like John Bonham, Ian Paice, Terry Bozzio, Mike Portnoy, Simon Phillips and in the next years also Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta and Virgil Donati (these last two particularly followed since young age).
In 2003 he's on the stage of Percfest, international percussion festival in the show titled "5 drummers for Laigueglia", in that occasion the pianist Ivan Bridon will congratulate with him (and his father in character of his teacher).
The desire of an authentic and innovative experience through all music kinds, leads him to try himself in the most eterogeneous professional contexts. In 1999 he plays with musicians from Athens in Italy, from 2008 he collaborates with percussion master "Sa Mbaye" (national orchestra of Senegal) and since 2007 he plays periodically every year in Crete with Greek musicians.
In 2004 he collaborates with Mr.Pig leading the coverband to a turn with lot of "groove" and drum solos, accredited by the growing consideration of their fans. In that period they play about 100 concerts around north of Italy, in that year the band will record his first album. Then he will decide to leave the band to devote to new professional projects.
Nel 2005 he takes part of band Vision Divine, as a sessionist drummer; he enters the studio for the recording of “The Perfect Machine” which is published worldwide, so he has the chance to collaborate with Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius guitar player) which will speak of him as the best drummer he ever collaborated with. The album was immediately incensed by audience and press, so by being from many people considered one of the best Italian works in metal area. It reaches the first places abroad, among the most selling albums.
With this band he will take part to the Evolution Festival and Vision Divine Japan Tour in Tokyo and Osaka.
In 2006 he collaborates with the studio “Le Dune Recording”, he achieve the recording of a discographical project with Andrea Braido (Laura Pausini, Marcus Miller, Lenny Krawitz, Randy Crawdord etc...) and Larry Ceroni on keyboards.
He also record drums for many Mexican and Spanish artist including Iskander, l'album will be published in 2009 titled "Fresas con Vodka" distributed by Warner Bros, with Danil Morini on drums. The debut single "A Labio Dulce" is in the first place of every chart in Mexico and the whole central-south America.
In 2007 he's interviewed on the national magazine "Drum Club" the most important worlwide drum magazine. (Link to the article)
In the meantime he collaborates also with: Nicola Messori (Gianluca Grignani...), Andrea Govoni (Steven Adler from Guns 'n Roses...), Luca Anceschi (his single “Nina Mala” has been one of the most downloaded ringtones in summer 2006).
In 2011 he frequents many times Prague touring in many cities, collaborating and playing with the most prepared musicians of local scene (jazz, rock, latin etc...)
He's today part of different musical projects, all of considerable importance, through a molteplicity of music kinds. He also collaborates with Freak Out! ..Their last single "Limonata Punk" has found great success and the videoclip has been on MTV, All Music, etc... in the Jazz area he collaborates with the bast Jazzmans of local and national scene.
After these last experiences, consolidated by obtained results, his not only future, he's one of the most versatile and prepared italian and international sessionist drummers.
